Step up with refugees! Join the 3rd IRTS Network webinar on 23 June

31/05/2021

By Monika Resetar, ISCA

We are already half way through our webinar series and the 3rd networking webinar is coming on Wednesday 23 June from 13.00-14.30 CEST. The topic will be Step up with refugees for which we have invited passionate and experienced Adnan Abdul Ghani, a refugee from Syria who started a movement to train refugees to lead community activities, to share his expertise.

Adnan is a migration expert who now works for Save the Children in Sweden, where he developed Re-Act Model for refugees’ empowerment, self-organisation and strategic cooperation. He initiated the Support Group Network (SGN), the first refugee-led organisation in Sweden. He’s also a thematic adviser for Region Västra Götaland for its regional development strategy 2020 to 2030 and a member of EU Commission Expert Group on migration, asylum and integration.

In the first part of the webinar, he is going to share his experience and knowledge how can we as individuals and organisations, work together with refugees towards successful integration and inclusion.

In the second part we will divide into smaller groups and actively work on concrete challenges from your organisations. We’ll close the webinar by sharing learnings from the groups and guidelines for next steps.

Just a few days after World Refugee Day we are inviting you to join our webinar on Wednesday 23 June from 13:00-14:30 CEST.

Join us and sign up for the webinar here.

IRTS Networking Platform Webinars
ISCA’s Integration of Refugees Through Sport (IRTS) Networking Platform, which has already connected more than 70 EU project leaders and stakeholders in sport and inclusion, is currently making online opportunities open to even more people working in this field to meet, learn, gain recognition for their initiatives, and connect with each other.

The main goal of the webinars is to share experiences and make connections between organisations working with refugees. At the same time, the webinars will contribute to the creation of the second IRTS online course: Learning from experts and examples.

In the last few months we have already connected and shared experiences on 2 topics. Find the recaps and get access to recording of the webinars below.

COVID-19 or when control and planning are overrated

Never stop learning!

In the upcoming months of 2021 we will hold more networking webinars, so SAVE THE DATES below and keep an eye on https://irts.isca.org/ for more information.

Include everyone!
Among refugees there are various target groups that need different approaches. We’d like to share examples of involving female refugees, children, families, refugees with disabilities/special needs, LGBQTI, seniors, etc. in community sport.

15 September 13.00 – 14.30 CET

Work together for a bigger impact!
Collaboration and cooperation between different organisations, clubs, local authorities, schools and other stakeholders is important and can make a bigger impact on the target group as well as the local setting. We’d like to showcase examples of how that can be done.

10 November 13.00 – 14.30 CET

Registration will open 2 weeks before the webinars. Follow https://irts.isca.org/ for more information.
